About Susan Arsenault ~Realtor 24/7~

I would like to share a little of my background with you-

I am a native of Manchester, N.H. where I graduated from a small women's college, "Notre Dame" with a degree in elementary education and sociology.

I taught 2nd grade and then after moving to Ct. in 1970, I opened a nursery school in Ellington, Ct. and continued teaching for another 5 years.

As my children were growing, I decided to go into real estate having had first hand experience while growing up. My father was a broker, and we lived and breathed real estate in my home. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Getting ready to bike on the Greenway trail-a trail on an abandoned railroad that has been turned into a fabulous trail for all.

I moved to Simsbury in 1977 with my husband and 2 children. Today my children are young married adults. Thus, I have the time and energy to work 24/7. I have been in the real estate business for over 20 years. I enjoy meeting new people and assisting them in finding a home, or selling their existing home.

Whether buying or selling a home, I will listen to your needs and together as a team, we will get the job done!

I love my work, but I also channel some of my energy behind and in front of the camera for SCTV (Simsbury Community Television). I am the host and director of "Real Estate Today", a monthly show that deals with the nuts and bolts of the real estate process.

I am also a volunteer cameraperson for events in our town. I am on the board of directors for "Main Street Partnership", an organization dedicated to the economic health and preservation of the Historic Town Center.

I belong to St. Mary's church and have taught religious education when my children were younger.

In my free time I enjoy roller blading, bike riding and snow skiing.

Real Estate Tips
Selling Your Home >A Disappointed Seller

Many home sellers are disappointed by the first offer they receive. For example, when your agent calls to say that she has an offer on your home, your adrenaline might start flowing profusely. You get really excited, but your happy bubble bursts when you are presented with the contract. It's just not enough! The buyers asked for your new washing machine, and they also want to postpone the closing for three months. You don't see how it can work!

Before rejecting any offer on your property, you should consider making a counter offer. Rarely does an offer look the way it would if you had written it yourself. Consider the good and bad points of the offer, and work with the agents to find a middle ground that you and buyers can live with. You may have to go back and forth several times, and there will probably be compromises on both sides. Unless you are lucky enough to be selling in a strong sellers' market, the buyers will expect to do some bargaining. With a little patience, you and your agent can create a "win-win" situation for you and the buyers.
